As we rejoice in the TV coverage of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and look forward to the 2012 Olympics – we review, with many clips and newly discovered photos, the innovative production and technology that went into the 1948 London Olympics.
In an austere post war world – the BBC commissioned an OB fleet and laid down many of the production techniques in use today as they brought to Olympics into the home for the first time.
Norman Green has had a distinguished career in Television Engineering and is a well-known raconteur of the history of broadcasting .
This summer event includes a Barbeque so that those interested in Television or the Olympics can share their memories and ideas in an informal manner.
